In this conversation, Fernando shares insights into Lutex Design’s role in bringing the Ette Hotel to life, drawing on decades of experience in hospitality manufacturing. He reflects on collaboration, craftsmanship, and the importance of translating vision into a refined guest experience.
Q: Lutex has grown significantly since its early days in 1995. How has the company’s evolution, especially the expansion into full FF&E production prepared you for high-end boutique properties like Ette?
A: Our mission to continuously improve the company in all aspects has positioned us to partner with major hotel developers. We’ve built a reliable supply chain with manufactures across the world enabling us to source a wide range of products at different price points.
We’ve partnered with independent installation teams across North America as well, giving us the opportunity to successfully fulfill projects anywhere. Our in-house design team has grown in the last 10 years; our team is capable of working hand in hand with our client’s designers and architects.

Q: How did Lutex Design become involved with the Ette Hotel project, and what initially excited your team about working on this property?
A: We first heard about the Ette Hotel through our network of colleagues in the industry. We met the client in New York and a second time in Orlando before we got into serious business talks. We knew right from the beginning this would be a special project, the concept was unique in every aspect, every decision made by ownership was evaluated and based around guest experience.

Q: What quality control or craftsmanship standards do you feel made the biggest impact on the final look and feel of the Ette guest rooms?
A: We made certain the shop drawings were precise and detailed and that our manufacturer built the furniture to spec. Our first step was to create a model room and correct any discrepancies at the start. We inspected the furniture throughout the production process, virtually and on-site.
Q: How did Lutex’s dual capability in both window treatments and FF&E help streamline the process for the procurement or design teams?
A: Our dual capability made it practical for ownership to work with a single partner, simplifying communication and procurement. It also ensured the FF&E and window treatments were fully coordinated, creating a cohesive and well aligned design.

Q: Is there anything about this project that you’re particularly proud of that you’d like to share with our readers and guests of the hotel?
A: We’re especially proud to have collaborated closely with the ownership team to bring their design vision to life and to be part of what has become one of Orlando’s first boutique hotel experiences. There is also a strong sense of pride in how the window treatments and bespoke furniture evolved beyond purely functional elements to become integral, architectural features that enhance the overall guest experience.
The Ette Hotel stands as a clear example of how thoughtful design, quality execution, and close collaboration can elevate a boutique hospitality experience. Through its integrated approach, Lutex Design helped transform vision into a cohesive, guest-focused environment.
